Acne Control

Acne control is taken up as topical application products comprising benzoyl peroxide. The problem with this compound is a major skin irritant. Oxidants like peroxide can cause damage to the healthy skin tissue.

This works by keeping unobstructed and skin pores clear. Adapalene based applications are given only as per strict medical prescriptions. These medicines also produce side effects such as skin drying up, itchiness, scaly, and appearance in an inflamed state, etc.

Acne control cosmetics are helpful for camouflaging an acute breakout of acne. It should be remembered that any kind of topically applied oil based compound will have ample chances to aggravate acne problems.

This is especially applicable to foundation creams, the longest lasting oil based compound, which are oleaginous in nature. The following ingredients should be specifically avoided and they are:

• Myristate
• Oleic acid
• Stearic acid
• Petrolatum
• Isopropyl esters
• Lanolin

For acne control, lower quality cosmetic brands will never mention the presence or absence of such compounds on the manufacturing label. Cosmetics which are alcohol based are preferable instead of oil based ones.
