Baby Acne

Baby acne is also known as neonatal acne. Baby acne is a very common symptom among the babies. Baby acne is define as whiteheads, bumps and rashes. It can show up at birth or weeks after birth and perhaps weeks later.

You might think that it is impossible for babies to have baby acne as they have smooth skin and they are so young. However, this remain as a myth. Baby is just like anyone of us, will have acne depends on the cause of it.

There might be tons of reasons for baby acne although it is still unclear. Sometimes, it can be the irritation of the baby's saliva around the mouth and chin area, thus causing an acne breakout at that area.

It can also due to the spit-up milk that has dried up also around the chin area. The fabric of baby clothing will also determine acne breakout.

If the fabric is too hard and cause irritation to the body, there will be acne breakout. Washing baby clothing with strong detergent will irritates even more.

It is best to keep the baby out of sunlight and avoid coldness to prevent baby acne. When it comes to choosing baby products such as soaps, lotions and creams, choose one without harsh ingredients that will harm your baby's skin. Always make sure that your baby is clean all the time to avoid acne breakout.

When you first saw the sign of redness, you must check if it is due to minor allergy or it is an acne. If it is acne, get a mild baby cleanser to clean the area gently so it will help to make sure the acne clear up sooner.

Remember not to expose the baby's skin to sunlight because baby's skin is very sensitive and mild. If the baby acne is treated well, it will clear up within days or the longest would be within weeks.

However, if there is no proper care and the acne is left to be healed on its own, it can take months. That is why you can never leave the baby acne to resolve on its own so the baby will not end up looking like a strawberry.

If there is nothing else that you have done that can help the baby to clear up the acne, go to a dermatologist and seek advise from the professional, as they know better.
